Studio Community Manager - Part-Time 

Timberline Studio is a diverse team telling emergent stories in beautiful and stylized worlds. Our first release was The Red Lantern, a story-driven dog-sledding game. Our team is comprised of veterans and those that are newer to the industry and we pride ourselves on building up new talent. We are seeking curious and imaginative people to join our team and help us to expand The Red Lantern world and work on our next title.

We are looking for a part-time Community Manager to keep our fans engaged, assist with customer support and feedback gathering, and to build new communities for our future games. As Community Manager you’ll be responsible for helping us to build and expand our community and continue to foster our positive and kind vibes. The ideal candidate is excited to bring together audiences of different backgrounds and loves building inclusive spaces across social media channels. While this is part-time to start, this position will have the opportunity to transition to a full-time role in the future.

This posting will be active from September 8 to October 15. We will review all applications received during this time and will provide responses to those we’d like to move forward with by the end of October 22.

Our ideal candidate is ready to start no later than November 1 to assist with some community and marketing tasks that will be needed around that time.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to comments, messages, and queries on all social media and player channels.

  • ·Launch a Discord channel for the studio, set up rules and channels, and kick off the community channels for our players.

  • Write compelling copy for social platforms, marketing beats, and other communications.

  • Act as the community’s advocate within our studio. Be able to assess community feedback and sentiment and communicate key information with the development team.

  • Be the studio’s voice and advocate within the community on our social media channels to generate engagement, growth, and brand awareness.

  • Present creative concepts for ways to engage the community.

  • Help grow The Red Lantern and Timberline Studio community.

  • Build a consistent presence on social media channels.

  • Be a positive example for the community and build a culture of kindness, respect, openness, and collaborative communication. Model the behaviors that we expect from the community to create a welcome and inclusive space.

  • Build and maintain relationships with content creators and their communities.

Requirements:

  • Passion for socializing with fans and peers, networking, and, of course, talking about games, art, story, and development.

  • Proven experience managing and developing an online community of any kind (this could be a hobby, volunteer, or previous professional experience).

  • A love of social media and a strong understanding of their quirks and the communities on each of them. Particularly: Twitter, Instagram, Discord, and YouTube.

  • Understanding of the current game industry and desire to grow and maintain that knowledge.

  • Able to learn new community strategies and find what works best for our community.

  • Be adaptable. It’s key to align your tone and communication to different audiences and contexts.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Experience making visual assets (gifs, images, videos) and the associated software to make those assets.

It’d be great if you also had:

  • Graphic design or digital art experience.

  • Previous community management experience in games.

  • Digital marketing experience.

  • Customer support experience.

  • Familiarity with social media management tools for content generation and engagement tracking

  • Video content creation or streaming experience (or an interest in building those skills)

 

This position will be a part-time, contractor position with an eye toward a full-time role in the future.
